Bighead carp balyk – a special product, ideal for festive dinners

The bighead carp is the chubbiest fish from the fish hatchery, since this is where this brave one grows up. Either as an exquisite smoked dish or wood roasted, the bighead carp can pride itself with such appetizing and savoury meat, with a special sweetness to it. For this reason, locals used to eat it directly on the pond shore, by adding a piece of smoked bacon that was left there to melt.

Still, it is considered a noble recipe, thus villagers used to say that ‘few are those who can enjoy their fish at dinner, every once in a while – few of the peasants and the village nobles’. For those who enjoy smoked fish, the bighead carp balyk is one of the most ingenious fish dish.

The smoking process consists of creating a product which is prepared with hardwood essence sawdust hot smoke, with as less as possible salt, a unique flavour and, here and there, tied with a rope. Without any doubt, this bighead carp balyk will stir the cravings of any gourmet.

The purpose of this project is to promote the consumption of fish and highlights the importance of fish consumption. People can understand the importance of fish consumption for the body only by emphasizing its nutritional properties. Fish is an important food for a responsable feeding and for this reason it should not be missing from your shopping cart because of its important nutrients.

At the same time, we must report the decline of fish consumption in Romania, compared to rest of the European Union (annual consumption of fish in Romania is of 4,5 kg/person/year, of 10 times lower than the European Union. The largest consumers of fish and fish products are Portugal and Spain, which consume 48 / 45 kg/person/year).
