Fish goulash – an easy-to-cook, special dish

The fish goulash is easy to cook, therefore it is known by both cook experts and amateurs. The Hungarian cattlemen, known as “gulyás”, used to prepare this meal in a cauldron, which was hung in a trivet, under the sky, on the roads leading to the meat markets in Moravia or Vienna. King Joseph II turned this dish into a Hungarian traditional dish and, later on, fishermen also added fresh fish from mountain rivers to it. The secret of this meal is the mixture of fresh vegetables. Goulash lovers know that this dish leaves a mark on gourmands and this is due to the special flavour given by the unique blend of ingredients of each goulash.

Ingredients:

1 carp, 5 onions, 5 bell peppers, 1 celery, 2-3 carrots, 2 spoonfuls of pepper paste, 1 spoonful of tomato paste, 2 courgettes, 1 large cauliflower, 1 spoonful of sweet pepper powder, ½ spoonful of hot pepper powder, 100 ml oil, 5 potatoes, fish soup, 1 bundle of parsley, salt and black pepper.

Cooking method:

First, remove the scales of the fish, then eviscerate it and wash it well. Second, sprinkle some salt and black pepper over it and cut it into chunks, which are then boiled. Separately, peel, wash and chop the onions, the bell peppers, the celery and the carrots, and fry them in oil. To this mixture add the large pieces of courgette and the medium sized cauliflower buds one by one. After all these ingredients have softened, add the pepper paste, the pepper powder, the peeled, washed and chopped potatoes and the fish soup. Afterwards add the tomato paste, let it all simmer for 30 minutes and then add the fish chunks. Then add half of the bundle of parsley; finely chopped, and let it simmer for another 10 minutes. Finally, the wonderful goulash is served hot in large bowls and each gourmand can add more parsley to their taste. Enjoy your meal!

The project of promoting and relaunching the fish consumption in Romania, it is funded by POP 2007-2013, with the support of the Romanian Government and European Union. This project is made by Doripesco during 2013-2015.

The purpose of this project is to promote the consumption of fish and highlights the importance of fish consumption. People can understand the importance of fish consumption for the body only by emphasizing its nutritional properties. Fish is an important food for a responsable feeding and for this reason it should not be missing from your shopping cart because of its important nutrients.

At the same time, we must report the decline of fish consumption in Romania, compared to rest of the European Union (annual consumption of fish in Romania is of 4,5 kg/person/year, of 10 times lower than the European Union. The largest consumers of fish and fish products are Portugal and Spain, which consume 48 / 45 kg/person/year).
